The Air Jordan VI is my second favorite model, XI being number one. For me, it's my top 2 because of the way the shoe fits and the history behind this model. I was only 4 or 5 when the Chicago Bulls won their first championship versus the Los Angeles Lakers with MJ leading the way, but this is not why this model is one of my favorites.
2010 Black/Varsity red
It's the end of January 2010 or the beginning of February 2010, I'm about 22, still at home, working at with my pops at my uncle's metal fabrication shop. The job didn't pay much ($8.50/hr) and my family and I filed our taxes mid Jan. 2010. I did what anyone did with their tax return when they still lived at home, I bought material things. This particular material thing would end up being the Air Jordan VI black/varsity red.
As soon as I saw my tax return got deposited into my bank account the first thing I did was check footlockers website. I was at work, rockin with my T-mobile G1 (wassup HTC), browsed the air jordan section of FL's site and saw that Vi's were available. My eyes lit up and I thought "yo, I gotta check if they're available in my size", lo and behold they were!. I called the closest footlocker and asked them if they had the shoe available in my size they said
"Yeah, it's actually our last pair, did you want us to put it aside for you?"
"YES!"
"Great! what time will you be coming in?"
"I get off work around 3pm is that cool?"
"That's good, so we'll see you around 3:30? can I get your name so I can put a note on the box" "Rafael, yes ill see yall at 3:30pm".
That's the last time I was able to call FL and ask them to reserve my size.
I beat these shoes up, wore them to the gym, disneyland, and work. Till this day the shoe is still wearable, I could probably still hoop in them.
2014 - 2015
Fast forward to 2014-2015, i'm a few years into my job at the hospital and i've been fortunate enough to be able to afford sneakers that i've wanted for a long time. My current air jordan 6 collection is pretty small, but its the colors ways that I like.
