Looking down at the past posts you see me write about my connection with these shoes and my childhood. Like many of us 90s kids, we grew up in a time where there was no social media, little to no internet, and we found out about things through word of mouth or relatives and friends. My connection with sneakers started when I was in 3rd grade with the Air Jordan XI "Columbia". I couldn't get them because my mom already bought me the Reebok "Shaqnosis", so no way in hell was she going to by me ANOTHER pair of shoes that wouldn't last the school year.
Why am I talking about this again? because back in February of this year (2017) Jordan Brand released the Air Jordan XII "Playoffs" Low and the Air Jordan XIII "Chicago" aka "Cherry". The XII and XIII hold a real special place in my heart, because growing up we didn't have a lot of money so when I got nice things like these shoes I appreciated it more. These may not be everyone's favorite Jordan silhouettes, but they're a couple of mine. I remember being the only kid in school that had the Black and Red AJ XII, I remember being the only kid in school that had the White and Black AJ XIII, and I felt like good, then I had to prove it on the basketball court LOL.
I was ecstatic ,to say the least, when JB dropped both of these. As a kid these two colorways were the ones that stuck out to me, but never got. Fast forward to 2017 I couldn't be happier with how these two came out, albeit the XII are lows, it's the colorway I love on it. My absolute favorite part of the XIII is the Jumpman hologram on the collar of the shoe, I thought it was the dopest thing as a kid. I don't have those shoes from when I was a kid, because I basically tore them shits up, but i'm glad to have these in my collection (just need black/red XIIs).
