RAF: WE'RE BACK!....kind of. Took a hiatus due to busy schedules and re-doing the site (hope you all like).
RAF: Since April, there's been some pick ups, the Golden State Warriors are the 2018 NBA champs, sneaker brands dropped some serious heat, nba free agency, AND LEBRON JAMES SIGNED A 4-YEAR $154M DEAL WITH THE LAKERS!
RAF: Holy s**t! what?!?! I'm gonna need the other guys to chime in on this one, but me, personally as a lifelong laker fan am both excited and unsure about this. LBJ is undoubtedly one of the greatest in the game right now, but the amount of minutes he's played over the past couple of seasons for the Cavs is concerning to say the least. However, having a guy like Lebron on a team thats got a ton of young talent on the rise is great. My hope is with the addition of Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson, and (I hate that im even associating this name with the purple and gold) JaVale McGee, the lakers regain some power back in the western conference. It's well documented in my social media feeds that im a diehard Lakers and Kobe Bryant fan, so I personally won't be scrambling to cop myself a lebron jersey anytime soon (I still want my black kuzma jersey). Is it October yet?
ERWIN: I was playing Overwatch and Rhona asked me "did LeBron James sign with the Lakers?" I said "No..." and then I went on twitter to see and yes LBJ signed with the Lakers and I freaked out. Adding LBJ to the Lakers didn't make sense to me at that very minute because well...the best guys on that team have only watched playoffs on TV when Lebron has gone up against Golden State. Having Kawhi would sweeten that deal, but signing Lebron confirms at least an 8-seed by April 2019. I like adding Lance Stephenson, meh on Rajon Rondo, and curious to see what they do with Luol Deng & Isaiah Thomas. Deng and IT looks more like trade pieces than expensive 2nd team players.
ERWIN: As for the jersey game, I'm shying away from dropping $ on a swingman from any Laker for the foreseeable future. Might change if Kawhi comes and if Kuzma stays a Laker past the All-Star Break.
JONAS: Every time the postseason rolls around I make it a point to shut out all rumors about signings or free agents. How many times have we, the Laker Nation, been led on and then ultimately disappointed? *cough* DeMar DeRozan & Paul George *cough* To be fair, the management shift was a big reason why many Lakers signings and trades ended up the way they did. The only two people the last few seasons have benefited were Mozgov and Deng who were signed to contracts that would have them laughing to bank over the next few seasons. Lebron James is inarguably the best player in the world, not just the league but the world. Name another player who can play every single position effectively or even close to the caliber Lebron can. This statement is coming from one of the biggest Kobe’s Bryant fans you’ll ever meet. Lebron James isn’t just apure scorer. When his shot fails, he makes plays, he dishes out pinpoint dimes. When he turns the ball over too many times, he rebounds. He crashes the glass. He locks down on defense. He is a true 99 overall in 2K.
JONAS: Now what does that mean for the Lakers, now that the best player in the world is joining them? As a die hard purple and gold fan my best case scenario is that he not only leads the team to championships in every one of his four years under contract, but he mentors them on HOW to win. The greatest takeaway from this contract is that the young core we’ve come to call Lakers, picks up the small details in Lebron’s game and adapts that to their own play style. Lebron inevitably makes the Lakers a better team but hopefully that is translated into the locker room and in practice, rather than just on the scoreboard.
